This information was given in a press release sent by the Public Relations Office of Dhaka University on Wednesday morning. The notification said, ‘Ali Hussain, a student of the Department of Sociology of Dhaka University in the 2020-21 session, has been expelled from the university for six months for attacking and threatening a female student of the university on social media. This decision to expel him was taken in light of the recommendation of the Proctorial Fact-Finding Committee formed in this regard.’
The notification also said, ‘This is the maximum punishment within the jurisdiction of the proctor as given in the university order. Ali Hussain’s class roll is 54 and registration number is 2020212768. He is a student of Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall. At the same time, the complaint against Ali Hussain has been sent to the university’s sexual harassment committee.
The university authorities formed two separate investigation committees yesterday in the incident of gang rape threats against female candidates. Among them, the university’s proctor’s office formed a three-member fact-finding committee and DUCSU and the Hall Parliament Election Commission formed a two-member fact-finding committee. The decision to expel the student was taken based on the recommendations of the investigation committee made by the proctor’s office.
